The "Independent" Mainstream Media Does It Again | Zero Hedge

Of course this was all prophesied many years ago:

Under a dictatorship the Big Business, made possible by
advancing technology and the consequent ruin of Little Business, is
controlled by the State
- that is to say, by a small group of party leaders and the soldiers, policemen and civil servants who carry out their orders. In
a capitalist democracy such as the United States, it is controlled by
what Professor C. Wright Mills has called the Power Elite
.

This Power Elite directly employs several millions of the country’s
working force in its factories, offices and stores, controls many
millions more by lending them the money to but its products, and, through
its ownership of the media of mass communications, influences the
thoughts, the feelings and the actions of virtually everybody
.

Captain Phillips 'no hero' in real life, say ship's crew | Film | theguardian.com

Captain Phillips 'no hero' in real life, say ship's crew | Film | theguardian.com

Sailors who endured the real-life attack by Somali pirates which forms the basis of Oscar-tipped thriller Captain Phillips have condemned the version of events shown in the film.

Crew members of the Maersk Alabama, which suffered the raid off the coast of lawless Somalia in April 2009, told the New York Post the titular hero played by Tom Hanks in Paul Greengrass's
critically acclaimed film was far from heroic. The sailors, who are
suing their employers Maersk Line and the Waterman Steamship Corp for
$50m, said Richard Phillips was a sullen, self-righteous man: their suit
claims the captain's wilful disregard for his crew's safety contributed
to the attack.

"Phillips wasn't the big leader like he is in the
movie," said one crew member who worked closely with the captain,
speaking anonymously for legal reasons. "No one wants to sail with him,"
he told the Post.

The crew member said Phillips, who went on to
meet Barack Obama and write a memoir, refused to cut power and lock
himself and the crew below deck in line with anti-pirate protocol. "He
didn't want anything to do with it, because it wasn't his plan," said
the crew member. "He was real arrogant."

28Gate at JoNova: the BBC's criminal conspiracy to market marxist climate change

JoNova

The BBC has spent tens of thousands of pounds over six years trying to keep secret an extraordinary ‘eco’ conference which has shaped its coverage of global warming,  The Mail on Sunday can reveal.
The controversial seminar was run by a body set up by the BBC’s own environment analyst Roger Harrabin and funded via a £67,000 grant from the then Labour government, which hoped to see its ‘line’ on climate change and other Third World issues promoted in BBC reporting.
Tony Newbery, 69, from North Wales, asked for further disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act. The BBC’s resistance to revealing anything about its funding and the names of those present led to a protracted struggle in the Information Tribunal. The BBC has admitted it has spent more than £20,000 on barristers’ fees. However, the full cost of their legal battle is understood to be much higher.
In a written statement opposing disclosure in 2012, former BBC news chief and current director of BBC radio Helen Boaden, who attended the event, admitted: ‘In my view, the seminar had an impact on a broad range of BBC output.’
First they take your money to force their opinions over you.

Then they take your money to hide what they were doing, because they knew what they were doing was wrong.

It was a turning point in BBC coverage. The 2006 seminar with “climate experts” turned out to be mostly a workshop with Greenpeace, industry activists and lobbyists. It was the point the BBC dropped even the pretense of impartial news reporting on the climate. After this “high-level” seminar the Beeb announced it didn’t need balance in the climate debate. Then having made out they were so scientific and honorable, they spent the next six years burning more money to hide the names of the experts from the public that paid for them.

Is there any better argument to explain why state funded media is not just a waste of money, but irresponsible, immoral and unethical political advertising?

Why shouldn’t SBS be retired? | Catallaxy Files

This is an organisation that cost the Australian taxpayer $247 million in 2012-13. Surely it is time to consider whether SBS should be shut down. The savings of a quarter of a billion dollars a year would be a significant help to reduce Australia’s debt and return the budget to surplus.

Or do they?

Frozen Out: 98% of Stories Ignore That Ice-bound Ship Was On Global Warming Mission | NewsBusters

Frozen Out: 98% of Stories Ignore That Ice-bound Ship Was On Global Warming Mission | NewsBusters

By Mike Ciandella | January 2, 2014 | 12:43

A group of climate change scientists were rescued by helicopter Jan. 2, after being stranded in the ice since Christmas morning. But the majority of the broadcast networks’ reports about the ice-locked climate researchers never mentioned climate change.

The Russian ship, Akademic Shokalskiy, was stranded in the ice while on a climate change research expedition, yet nearly 98 percent of network news reports about the stranded researchers failed to mention their mission at all. Forty out of 41 stories (97.5 percent) on the network morning and evening news shows since Dec. 25 failed to mention climate change had anything to do with the expedition.

In fact, rather than point out the mission was to find evidence of climate change, the networks often referred to the stranded people as “passengers,” “trackers” and even “tourists,” without a word about climate change or global warming.

Chris Turney, the expedition’s leader, is a professor of climate change at the University of South Wales. According to Turney’s personal website, the purpose of the expedition is to “discover and communicate the environmental changes taking place in the south.”

Twenty-two crew members stayed with the ship for the time being, as the scientists and researchers were rescued. According to CNN, the ship has enough supplies for “a very long time.”

Three rescue attempts had been thwarted by growing levels of sea ice and weather conditions.
"Outside, blizzard conditions packing an abnormal amount of ice in to the area for this time of the year, summer in the Antarctic," ABC News Correspondent Gio Benitez reported on “Good Morning America” Dec. 31.

On Jan. 2, all 52 passengers were airlifted to a nearby Australian icebreaker ship which had tried, and failed, to plow through the ice and free the Akademic Shokalskiy, on Dec. 30. “Good Morning America” said on Dec. 30, that “the ice could be as thick as 13 feet.”

According to Fox News, Turney admitted “we’re stuck in our own experiment.” They reported on Dec. 30, that a statement from the Australasian Antarctic Expedition said, “Sea ice is disappearing due to climate change, but here ice is building up.”

There was only one news story out of 41 that mentioned climate change. That was CBS “This Morning” Dec. 30. “Despite being frozen at a standstill, the team’s research on climate change and Antarctic wildlife is moving forward,” CBS News Correspondent Don Dahler said. That night, all three evening news programs still failed to make any mention of the group’s climate change research.
The MRC’s Business and Media Institute was unable to view a copy of CBS “Sunday Morning” for Dec. 29, so that broadcast had to be excluded from the tally.

Before their ship got stuck in ice, the researchers were following the trail of the explorer Douglas Mawson, who was stranded in Antarctica for more than a year, beginning in December 1912, according to the website about the expedition.

No one sane likes or trusts any part of the lapdog media, and a significant minority of freeborn people have turned it off forever.

Hence the invasion of the internet by commercial interests to try and pry their way into our homes that way.

As for the channels and their vapid morons- again, no one sane cares.

Fairfax’s daily Abbott-hate: sniggering at him for what was done before his time | Herald Sun Andrew Bolt Blog

MP John Alexander tells Parliament how Fairfax stitched him up:

In July last year I was invited to travel to Perth to deliver the keynote speech at a Curtin University forum relating to sporting-club development. During my short stay in Perth I had the opportunity to visit the club at Royal Kings Park and also to meet with the CEO of Perth Airport to discuss our shared issue of aircraft noise, another electorate matter.
While on the west coast I accepted an invitation from my committee colleague, the member for Forrest, to visit her region to meet with business leaders to discuss my work as chair of the coalition’s Sustainable Cities Taskforce. This work was born from the No. 1 issue facing Bennelong residents—a lack of urban planning, leading to our streets becoming the funnel for one of the fastest-growing regions in the country....
Yet it was an unrelated feature of the Forrest electorate that garnered a journalist’s interest in this trip more than a year later: the Margaret River community’s successful wine-production industry.
In order to ensure the public perception matched the integrity with which I approached the trip, I scheduled meetings over three days and was keen to ensure that all activities during that period related only to work matters. Whilst in the region, I also took three days of personal time, solely at my own expense. As a result of the success of my earlier meetings, more work related meetings took place on my personal days. I made no claim for that.
Early last month I was contacted by a Fairfax journalist wishing to have details about this trip. The questions were answered with a clear conscience, but preferring to avoid a story the information was given off the record, as background only.
The journalist in question affirmed his understanding of the status of this information, by reply email. Shortly after sending this email, the journalist transmitted a barrage of tweets that repeatedly quoted from the off-the-record information I had provided…
Interestingly, the final tweets from the Fairfax journalist read: ‘Mr Alexander’s trips fit within entitlements.’ So no story. Ten days later he printed a story that demeaned the good work that was being done into a farcical claim—that I had visited Margaret River to study traffic congestion. This absolute lack of accuracy in reporting directly undermines the important relationship between constituents and their elected representatives. These actions are performed in an overt attempt to injure us, to damage our reputations.

The Daily Mail's Retracted Story On A U.S. False Flag Chemical Attack In Syria - disinformation

The Daily Mail's Retracted Story On A U.S. False Flag Chemical Attack In Syria - disinformation

In January, the Daily Mail reported that leaked emails suggested that the United States was planning to stage a chemical weapons attack which would be blamed on the Assad regime and justify military action against Syria.

The article was subsequently deleted, with the Mail apologizing and explaining that the emails had turned out to be fabricated.

Is this a case of a hoax and shoddy tabloid reporting? Or a possible conspiracy? The original article can be viewed via the Internet Archive:
Leaked emails have allegedly proved that the White House gave the green light to a chemical weapons attack in Syria that could be blamed on Assad’s regime and in turn, spur international military action in the devastated country.
A report released on Monday contains an email exchange between two senior officials at British-based contractor Britam Defence where a scheme ‘approved by Washington’ is outlined explaining that Qatar would fund rebel forces in Syria to use chemical weapons.
Barack Obama made it clear to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad last month that the U.S. would not tolerate Syria using chemical weapons against its own people.
The emails were released by a Malaysian hacker who also obtained senior executives resumés and copies of passports via an unprotected company server, according to Cyber War News.

CNN Caught Staging News Segments on Syria With Actors | Friends of Syria

CNN Caught Staging News Segments on Syria With Actors | Friends of Syria

The primary “witness” that the mainstream media is using as a source in Syria has been caught staging fake news segments.  Recent video evidence proves that “Syria Danny”, the supposed activist who has been begging for military intervention on CNN, is really just a paid actor and a liar.

While Assad is definitely a tyrant like any head of state, a US invasion of the country is a worst case scenario for the people living there.

By pointing out that the mainstream media is orchestrating their entire coverage of this incident, we are not denying that there is a tremendous amount of death and violence in Syria right now.  However, we are showing that the mainstream media version of events is scripted and staged propaganda.

The following video shows him contradicting himself while off air, and even asking crew members to “get the gunfire sounds ready” for his video conference with Anderson Cooper on CNN.

MAINSTREAM REDEFINED | Daily Telegraph Tim Blair Blog

Another point about the lapdog media that occurs is this.

With the internet levelling the playing field, basically none of these second rate minds in the journalism clade are capable of beating citizen journalists ie real journalists- either to the scoops or in accurate reporting.

A so called profession that is beaten at every turn by people like Shaz on Christmas Island, and the people beat journalists by simply providing honest information and opinion with no spin and no agenda.

Something there for the journalists to ponder whilst they're scrawling the latest socialist screed with their crayons and butcher's paper.
