GOLDFISH GRAVEYARD page 23

Quethethea - "He Who Jumps Between Worlds Like A Stone Skipping Water" - was a player character of course.

His progeny were a dynasty of dimensional travelling superheroes, most of whom were to put it mildly flaky.

By the great grandchildren generation, and post the War In Heaven, the kids are mostly violent champions of largely uninhabited parallel Earths where civilisation and in some cases humanity never took off.

Prisoner 58, better known as Epiyoth the Garbfighter, uses only the inbuilt claws and spikes on his armoured bodysuit and heavy cloak as his weapons. Garbfighting itself is unarmed combat combined with offensive armour.

Why Prisoner 58 came to be imprisoned in the now abandoned National Laboratory in Beaver City is a saga for another time.

Goldfish Graveyard page 6 raw artwork part 1: Kal-66, Miradomon the Wizard Cat and the Seven Sided Cube

The artwork for Goldfish Graveyard features hand drawn panels rather than the pristine perfection of computer generation picture boxes. This is an absolutely deliberate decision to try and get a hand made feel to the book, as well as tip the hat to the role playing game that really encapsulated most of the story, across 34 years of novels, gamebooks and pamphlets of various kinds.

I feel strongly that something is being channelled in this book as well as the normal artistic process, so I am just going to continue to go with it. :)

Goldfish Graveyard page 2 final

After an eternity of false starts, the contemporary She-Devil and one of her team mates from the Guardians of Justice, Bishop Incognito of the Church of the Invisible Hand, stride the rooftops overlooking the International Emporium of Wonders in Gotham.

Gotham - ie pulp New York - was the original stomping grounds of the Guardians and continued to be their spiritual home through all the decades since.

This is the Eternium era team- a world very much like our own where the supervillains have comprehensively won- and are the political and social leaders of the civilised world.

She-Devil is an aerial acrobat and vigilante detective.

Her big secret is that, contrary to popular belief, she is not the great grand daughter of the original She-Devil from the 1920s and 1930s. It is the same person, granted immortality in Shamballah along with her husband the Shadow of Justice. Like all immortals who function in normal society, she has to replace her identity with that of her "daughter" at regular intervals. Most of the high level bad guys know her secret, but the general public do not.

Bishop Incognito leads a christian church as well as being a freedom fighter truther struggling to "awaken" the sleeping population. The rest of the team will emerge in due course, although anyone who bought my d20 rulebook GOLDEN will know the likely candidates... Likewise people who bought ETERNIUM will know exactly who is on the team.

Goldfish Graveyard in some respects is a typical monday-morning-in-the-comics-store adventure where new players would create their superheroes and through the day a tag team of player characters would start investigating Kal-66... IS HE FRIEND? OR FOE?

That kind of thing. :) Good times.

Goldfish Graveyard page 1 final

Goldfish Graveyard incorporates the unused film script of the same name, about a nebbish who ends up going on a quest to find a valuable goldfish, as well as various RPG and fiction work content of my own original work going back to 1979.

I am delighted to finally realise the work in a final form, albeit comicbook not film, tv or webisode.

So far... :)

KILLKROP: Denz blasting away with his Ring of Force

Denz of Clan Hopper is the first creature Amnesia Man encounters when he awakens and leaves the Bunker. Denz has packrat pockets- his bulging waistcoat pockets have a cornucopia of technological geegaws in them, which he can unerringly select from, or he can take pot luck and just pluck something out at random.

Denz is a Purebreed. Purebreeds are mutated pre-Cataclysm organisms that do not further mutate- whatever package of mutations they have, their offspring inherit. Exposure to new mutagens or radiation just kills Purebreeds, they can't gain new Lamarckian Traits or Wild Talents from further exposure.

Denz seems a loyal new friend and so far has followed him on all Amnesia Man's (mis)adventures. He is also a useful source of information about the new world the hero has awoken into.

FREE: Characters: The Prisoner aka The Prisoner of Time

The Prisoner

also known as

The Prisoner of Time, The Man Who Has Not Tasted Death

Homeworld:
The World of Mystery

Family:
It is believed that The Prisoner is an orphan, whose family died during the Vazeer raids during the final phase of the War of Seven Sides.

Background:
The Prisoner obtained his unusual power after being betrayed by his fellow rogue and best friend Aelvon during a dungeon delve. Shot with a handbow and left for dead, The Prisoner stumbled into a nearby river, eventually being washed down into a lagoon that was home to a hedge wizard. This hedge wizard found the nearly dead rogue, placed on him a magical amulet, and the amulet restored The Prisoner to life, at the cost of being unremovable. The amulet also conferred on The Prisoner his known magical powers.

Known Power and Abilities:

Magical AmuletThe prisoner wears a green glass magical amulet with a yellow cat-like eye embedded in it. This amulet is unable to be removed and its origin currently remains obscure.

Rogue
The Prisoner goes up levels as a Rogue, a footpad thief with excellent hand to hand, knife and improvised weapon fighting skills. He has no coordination or skill with heavy weapons other than improvised attacks and has no ability whatsoever with Knight weapons and armour.

Toughness
The Prisoner regenerates physical harm swiftly enough so that normal stunning or crushing damage is ignored.

Immortal
The Prisoner is immune to life threatening effects short of total disintegration or beheading followed by permanent separation of his head from his body eg placing the head in a solid container.

The Smell Of Lime: Oscar and Tramman running from a Thak and a Monitor

Low res version of the finished page. FSPC skybox with Gimp generated sphere and texture generated using Terragen and a Gimp feature I downloaded.

Gimp works very well, and FSPC is good for everything other than what it is intended for, as usual. :)

This is an early page in issue 2.

Issue 1 of The Smell Of Lime is on sale HERE.
