NASA tells story: Earth-ish planet a mere 600 light years away

Given that according to public versions of space travel it's impossible to ever go there, who gives a flying fuck sideways whether there is an Earth 600 light years away or not?

Or will there soon be a sudden 1984 moment where we have star travel and we always had star travel, etc.?

Given how many other once discredited things (NWO, CIA assassination of JFK, non-citizen elected President) have happened lately, nothing would surprise.
