Rudd and Gillard served with summonses to attend and surrender documents to Royal Commission - Michael Smith News

Rudd and Gillard served with summonses to attend and surrender documents to Royal Commission - Michael Smith News

KEVIN
Rudd and Julia Gillard have been told to prepare to give evidence in
the royal commission into the former Labor government's bungled home
insulation scheme.
Summonses
have reportedly been sent to Mr Rudd, his deputy at the time Ms
Gillard, his finance minister Lindsay Tanner, his environment minister
Peter Garrett, climate change minister Greg Combet, and the assistant
minister charged with co-ordinating government stimulus spending
programs, Mark Arbib.
Former treasurer Wayne Swan was contacted by phone.
All
seven have been advised they may be called to appear before the
inquiry, which is investigating whether the then-government was warned
about the scheme, created to inject money into the economy during the
global financial crisis.
The commission has been given wide-ranging terms of reference to establish "what really went wrong".
It will "fill the gaps" of other administrative reviews and coronial inquests, Commissioner Ian Hangar QC says.

Labor sets a booby-trap as it heads for the door

Labor sets a booby-trap as it heads for the door

To many observers, it was all too obvious: an outgoing Labor government was laying booby traps for an incoming Coalition outfit. But if there is a trap for Tony Abbott, it is no sleeper.

Budget 2013 is a reversal of the normal order of things: the backdrop of the event has commanded almost more attention than the action on stage.

Joe Hockey responds to the Wayne "Moron" Swan fudget

At a time of great uncertainty, this is a bad Budget for Australia.

Wayne Swan tonight confirmed that Labor’s Budget and financial management is in complete chaos.

Wayne Swan says this Budget is about “jobs and growth” – yet the Budget actually delivers higher unemployment (up to 5.75%) and lower growth (down to 2.75%).

It delivers more debt, more deficits, more taxes, more broken promises and more uncertainty from a government that has given up and can’t be trusted.

And the Budget does nothing to help Australian families deal with cost of living pressures, economic uncertainty and poor services.

The chaos of this Budget will result in:

  • total gross debt to breach the $300 billion debt ceiling within the forward estimates;
  • Labor’s fifth record deficit in five years and at least two more deficits to come;
  • no credible path back to surplus;
  • more broken promises such as scrapped tax cuts, baby bonus and family payments;
  • at least a $4.7 billion blowout in the management of Australia’s borders since last year’s Budget; and
  • more than $25 billion in higher taxes over the next four years.

Labor has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. Over the last 5 years, Labor has spent $192 billion more than it has raised, despite revenue having grown significantly under Labor - in 2013-14 it is projected to be $80 billion higher than at the end of the Howard Government.

The Budget delivers more than $25 billion in higher taxes over the next four years – 99% of which will hit Australians after the next election.

After six years of chaos, debt and spin, Australians are desperately seeking stable and competent economic management.

Only the Coalition has the Plan, experience and discipline to return the Budget to sustainable surpluses, reduce debt and provide real support to Australian families to help them get ahead again.

Only the Coalition can build a strong, prosperous economy and a safe, secure Australia and restore the hope, reward and opportunity all Australians deserve.

LNP: Labor: Five Long Years.

Labor: Five long years

Five long years of Labor.

Today marks five years to the day since Labor was elected to office.

Like their state counterparts, Labor’s record only worsens with time.

The hope that many Australians felt on 24 November 2007 has been replaced with disillusionment in a government too focused on its own survival and not enough on the everyday concerns of Australians – their cost of living pressures, their jobs and their future.

The Rudd/Gillard Government has been marked by too much spin, too much in-fighting and too many broken promises.

In just five years, Labor has:
  • presided over massive increases in people’s living costs, including electricity price increases of 89%;
  • misled the Australian people by introducing the world’s biggest carbon tax;
  • turned $70 billion in net assets into over $150 billion in net debt;
  • run up the four biggest deficits in Australia’s history, following on from the Howard Government’s four biggest surpluses;
  • overseen unprecedented waste from overpriced school halls, dangerous roof insulation, and an overpriced and undelivered NBN;
  • weakened our borders, resulting in over 500 boats arriving carrying a total of 30,000 illegal arrivals;
  • allowed the faceless men to remove a prime minister elected by the people, and in so doing, ensure ongoing division and dysfunction;
  • overseen a marked fall in Australia’s productivity performance and crippled small business with excessive regulation and cost increases;
  • compromised Australia`s interests by entering into a formal alliance with the Greens
  • stood by Craig Thomson and Peter Slipper and been mired in scandal.

5 long years of Labor

Labor is now a party that has abandoned its high aspirations of 2007 and replaced it with the politics of division.  The authors of the Australia Day riot have deliberately set out to divide Australian against Australian. There is no doubt Julia Gillard will continue the politics of division in 2013.

The Coalition’s message to the people of Australia is that there is a better way.

We can end the spin, end the lies and broken promises, cut the waste and stop the boats.

The Coalition has positive plans to build a powerhouse economy through lower taxes, more efficient government and more productive businesses that will deliver more jobs, higher wages and better services for Australian families.

Only the Coalition has the policies and experience to reset our country’s course to one that sees increasing confidence, renewed productivity growth and real improvement in the wealth of households.

The next election will offer the Australian people a clear choice between three more years of Labor dysfunction and division, or a new government with the experience and plans to deliver a strong and prosperous economy and a safe and secure Australia.

Wayne may not be the Boss but, baby, he was born to run the country into the ground | The Australian

Wayne may not be the Boss but, baby, he was born to run the country into the ground | The Australian

Working in a janitorial role or basic carbon unit job is the appropriate level for an intellectually disabled person like Wayne Swan. I thought he'd also been a public school teacher of no fixed ability at one point.

All good positions for a bottom percentile intellect.

Treasurer? Acting PM? Not so much. It's embarassing, and if he had normal emotional ranges he would be embarassed himself. Unfortunately his crippling mental disabilities prevent him from having insight or self-awareness.

Medication is the only possible treatment for him. That, and a nice unchallenging job pushing a broom or packing boxes.

Affirmative action has destroyed our political system, and Swan is even better proof of that than gillard.

Is Wayne Swan a misshapen assclown?

Wayne Swan says he'll make further budget cuts to protect surplus target | The Australian

 The government unveiled a dramatic change of course in last night's budget, junking promised business tax cuts to pay for voter handouts to ease the impact of its carbon tax.

Why does a carbon tax that the fuckwit regime claims won't cause economic harm require handouts to compensate for?

Also, note that the handouts go to the underclass welfare shirkers, not taxpayers. Don't die of surprise. StumbleUpon

Liberal HQ response to Wayne "Dumb As A Bag Of Bricks" Swan's FUDGET

Budget 2012: Cooked books, Carbon Tax, more debt

This Budget again confirms that Julia Gillard and Wayne Swan have no plan to build a stronger economy, repay debt or create secure jobs.

This is a confused Budget with no coherent economic strategy to deliver stronger growth and higher productivity.

Julia Gillard and Wayne Swan only have a plan for more borrowing, more taxes and record debt.

Budget 2012 shows:

the world's biggest carbon tax; record net debt of $145 billion; a record new debt ceiling of $300 billion; a $26 billion deterioration in the Budget over the past year; Labor's fourth massive deficit in four years; and higher unemployment.

This is a deceitful Budget from a Labor government that has broken too many promises.

It is a "cook the books" Budget – the forecast wafer-thin surplus in 2012-13 is based on fiddled figures, money shuffles and the mining boom continuing.

And the Budget provides no buffer against future economic shocks as the economic storm clouds gather in Europe.

Thousands of public servants to be offered voluntary redundancies | The Australian

 PUBLIC service numbers will fall for the first time in 16 years after cuts to be announced in tonight's Budget.

The reduction will be only "a few thousand'' out of a total of roughly 160,000 public servants, news.com.au has been told today.
