Skeleton of carrier pigeon found in UK chimney, still attached to mysterious WW2 message | Fox News

Experts say the skeletal remains of a pigeon discovered in the chimney of a house in southern England carried a mysterious, long-forgotten message from World War II.

Historians at Britain's Second World War-era code breaking headquarters say the bird was almost certainly returning from Nazi-occupied France during the June 1944 D-Day invasion.

Bletchley Park says that a radio blackout imposed on Allied forces at the time meant that messages about the progress of the invasion were dispatched by pigeon across the Channel.

What the message says remains unknown. It was coded, an unusual measure generally reserved for the most sensitive secrets.

Signs New Lease for Facility in Reston, Focuses on Increasing Operational Efficiency

Washington D.C. - September 14, 2010
The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has announced plans to create the Defense Intelligence Support Center (DISC) at a newly leased facility at Patriot Park in Reston, Virginia. The new center will consolidate DIA activities currently being performed in leased facilities in Northern Virginia in an effort to meet the needs of DIA’s support functions, improve operational efficiencies, and reduce overhead costs.

The lease and the closure of the other DIA sites in the region are projected to reap a nearly $16 million reduction in leasing costs for Fiscal Year 2012, and potentially $37 million savings for FY 2013.
Patriot Park is a campus of 23 acres, includes almost 530,000 square feet of office space, and boasts 2 full service cafeterias, an exercise facility, and ample parking accommodations for its occupants. The DISC site will also be metro accessible in 2013, upon the completion of the Dulles Metro Corridor’s Silver Line.

The Sept 14th lease signing culminated an 18 month search, conducted in close partnership with DIA, the General Services Administration (GSA) and Washington Headquarters Service, for a facility that would enable the agency to consolidate DIA’s support operations into one single site in Northern Virginia.

Before the site can accommodate DIA activities, the facility will undergo several phases of construction with the facility becoming fully operational by early FY2013.

When fully occupied, the DISC will become one of DIA’s three main hubs in the National Capital Region, joining the Defense Intelligence Analysis Center at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling and the Pentagon.

What a perfect cover for British intelligence. As was her own highly public status in a curious sort of way.

Not surprising, perhaps, that there was treachery from within. It must always have been the aim of the enemy to introduce one or more of their number into the system. Or, perhaps to buy the man that they needed. Buying a man was easier than one might think --one could buy with other things than money."

That is, years ahead of the game, a neat and succinct- and hellishly accurate summary of the ruinous British traitors Philbu, Burgess and the rest- egomaniacs, corrupt scum, queers, money hungry monsters or some unholy combination thereof.

Some reviewers to this day make fun of Agatha Christie for fearing the coming Labour governments in the 1920s, and for continuing her hatred of bolshevism- which is all the Labour / Labor movement is anywhere, it is an alien creed dedicated to the destruction of all that is good in Western man- and yet has she not been proven right? Every socialist regime anywhere has replicated at least a faint echo of the totalitarianism, brutalism and reign of terror of the original pattern to the exact degree the monsters have not been restrained.

As for her precience in 1949, I am firmly of the belief she had inside knowledge, functioned as a spy for Britain herself (as did Noel Coward, and if he is the unlikeliest agent, mutatis mutandis she is scarcely less so) and that she did her best in her "fiction" to sound the alarm literally to her dying day.
