Roads and the wheel | Catallaxy Files
Funny – the
unions in Canberra don’t seem interested in riding to work:
Parliamentary triangle workers would be able to park for free near Kingston then catch shuttle buses to their offices, under a proposal by the public service union.
As part of a plan to help its members avoid having to pay for parking in the parliamentary zone, the Community and Public Sector Union has called for the introduction of a park-and-ride facility and free or subsidised buses.
Vince McDevitt, ACT regional director of the CPSU, said some of the $73.3 million that would be raised over three years through the introduction of paid parking in Parkes, Barton and Russell should go towards establishing additional park-and-ride facilities.
Have I got this right?
1. Public servants vote Green
2. Greens introduce paid parking where public servants want to park
3. Public servants want everyone else to pay for transporting them to work
This does my head in.
We’ve got it wrong – these buggers should be forced to ride to work. In all weather conditions. That should fix the bloating problem that many public servants seem to be suffering from. Or the icy winter weather will cause their balls to freeze off during the ride to work, and that will stop them from breeding.

Catallaxy itself is pretty odious, but the commentators who have their say in the threads are really top notch. If only there was a way to have their input without the bloviating economics dickheads.
