Coming to Doctor Who: Space Dinosaurs, Epic Daleks, New Companion | Underwire | Wired.com
“Dinosaurs! On a spaceship!”
The trailer for the upcoming season of Doctor Who is out, offering a tantalizing sneak preview into the next 14 episodes, which will begin airing Aug. 25 on BBC America.
Doctor Who fans across the internet are already feverishly attempting to decode the dramatic 90-second trailer, which includes — yes — dinosaurs on a spaceship, heart-stopping Dalek sequences, and clues on the impending departure of the Doctor’s companions, Amy Pond and Rory Williams (played by Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill).
The upcoming season is expected to introduce — shocker! — a new female companion for the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith). The new character will be played by British actress Jenna-Louise Coleman.
In the trailer’s spine-tingling final scene, the Doctor carries Amy in his arms. She appears to be unconscious.
“Who killed all the Daleks?” demands Rory.
“Who do you think?” whispers the Doctor.
The year 2013 will mark the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, which began airing on the BBC in November 1963.
