Compo claims filed over ban on cattle exports to Indonesia

TWO groups of cattle producers are seeking compensation from the Gillard government over its decision to temporarily ban trade to Indonesia at the height of the live cattle welfare crisis.

According to budget papers, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has listed “compensation claims” from Minister Joe Ludwig's decision to ban the trade for a month in the “statement of risks” section.
