Sometimes people forget things so a few reminders are needed so here goes and if you can think of more let us know. The list is (so far)…………………..
- Introduced a Carbon Tax when they said they would not. Replaces it with ETS that treasury says will be 50% higher within 5 years. Short term reduction maybe, as we will not know the price until the July 1 next year. Meanwhile July 1 increase for July 1 this year went ahead – increased by 5% (inflation only 2.3%). Please note: KRudd and every Labor member and senator seeking re-election voted for it every time.
- Cut private health insurance rebates on average families and singles, not once but now 3 times in 6 years. Please note: KRudd and every Labor member and senator seeking re-election voted for it every time.
- Made a blanket decision to cut sole parent payments regardless of how they came to be in that predicament when they stated that Howard by asking these recipients to work 15hrs a week, was a mean spirited bully. What cutting their income support by 50% is not unfair and nasty? Please note: KRudd and every Labor member and senator seeking re-election voted for it every time as none of them receive sole parent payments.
- Increased the alco-pop tax (Wowsers tax 1) to plug the budget. Has not stemmed usage or the resultant behaviour. Please note: KRudd and every Labor member and senator (after they made sure it did not affect their wine and spirit purchases) seeking re-election voted for it every time.
- The Labor government dissolved the Pacific Solution. 50,000 plus illegal immigrants enter Australian waters. Over 1400 die trying. Policy kills. Policy makes criminals rich. Puts Australian service personnel at risk. Naval patrol boats over used and are now falling apart before they should. Total cost to date of failed KRUDD policy $18billion with an estimated $6billion over the next 2 years. (Figure does not include social security payments). Please note: KRudd and every Labor member and senator seeking re-election voted for it every time and sat there denying it was their fault.
- Smokers pay taxes well above their health cost – lets hit them again with an extra tax to plug the giant hole in the 12 week old budget (Wowsers tax 2) Please note: KRudd and every Labor member and senator, wowser or not, seeking re-election voted for it every time.
- Took away the superannuation co-contribution for lower income earners who wished to save for the future. Labor scheme pays half of old scheme. Please note: KRudd and every Labor member and senator seeking re-election voted for it every time.
- Australian government financial nett worth at the start of 2008 A positive $40billion. Australian government financial nett worth at the end oF 2013 MINUS $245billion. That’s right they wasted nearly $300billion. Please note: KRudd and every Labor member and senator seeking re-election voted for all this stupid spending every time.
- Killed off the Howard dental scheme that assisted people with chronic illnesses. Left these people high and dry. No replacement in sight. Please note: KRudd and every Labor member and senator seeking re-election voted for it every time.
- Had hair brain scheme to put the world’s most expensive pink batts in roofs around Australia. People have died and houses have burnt down because of the lack of planning and oversight besides warning that this would happen. Please note: Unapologetic killer KRudd and every Labor member and senator, supported it and defended it even while things were happening.
- Forces all students to pay student fees at universities in an attempt to support Young Labor. Please note: KRudd and every Labor member and senator, seeking re-election voted for it every time as they needed future political replacements and worker bees for the party.
- To pay for money being thrown at students in primary and secondary schools (known as compulsory students) the all thinking federal government decided to take billions of dollars from tertiary institutions such as universities plus taking away the student education scholarships from students (known as voluntary or willing students) which helps pay for books and other resources. (Please note university students receive the same payment as unemployed youth). This will make it harder for disadvantaged and remote students to compete for places within universities. Please note: KRudd and every Labor member and senator, seeking re-election voted for it as non of them would have supported place students due their income level.
- Defence. Normally defence white papers see into the future and are current for a 5 year period. They have had 3 and another on the way. As each paper keeps changing course, nothing gets done and/or research money gets wasted with investigation terminated part way through. Sticking to the dumb idea of building submarines in Adelaide. (Remember the Collins Class subs? Still known as marble filled coke cans). This has no basis other than keeping some unionist in a job at the expense of taxpayers and our national security. Our armed forces are at their lowest state of preparedness Since the end of the Hawke/Keating era. Please note: KRudd and every Labor member and senator, seeking re-election supported these white papers as grand revelations.
- In 2008 homeless people numbered 105,000 according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. KRudd making one of his grandstand statements in a white paper titled “The Road Home” set a target of halving the number of homeless by 2020. Figures for the end of 2012 show homeless numbers are now in excess of 120,000. So up instead of down. Please note: KRudd and every Labor member and senator, seeking re-election have done nothing to get this on track.
- Unemployment. As of writing 250,000 more Australians are without a job since KRudd came to power. The government expects at minimum that this figure will increase by another 70-80,000 over the next 11 months. Add too this there are 300,000 workers who are now working reduced hours due to cut backs. Please note: KRudd and every Labor member and senator, seeking re-election have done nothing even while businesses and the government’s own Productivity Commission is telling them that their workplace laws are killing jobs.
- Censorship. How many times has this government attempted to not just censor the press but to hoist things like net nannies on us? Are we not adults? Are we no longer tolerant of different views? Do we not want open and frank discussion even though sometimes it may offend our own sensitivities? Thankfully they have never got away with it even though KRudd and every Labor member and senator, seeking re-election have seen this censorship as away to retain power. Hello to George Orwell’s 1984. (About the book 1984 or the movie )
- Our favourite. The NBN. Touted by KRudd in 2007 he unveiled a plan where Labor would invest up to $4.7 billion over five years to establish the national broadband network in partnership with the private sector if it won government. Labor stated that under its plan, 98 per cent of Australians would be connected to the new system, at speeds more than 40 times faster than most current speeds. Well folks. 6 years later, $13billion spent, now projected to cost $62billion (we will be releasing more on that on Tuesday) and not be completed until 2027. That’s right 2027. Even to do that, over 15% of premises will be serviced via satellite or wireless at speeds no where near the 40 times multiple, with not a cable in sight. KRudd is a paper napkin planner and here stands the biggest proof of that. Meanwhile not just KRudd but all of his merry souls in the Labor Party have pranced about going how great it is. The NBN is late – actually very late if ever and so far over budget that every Australian could have had free private health insurance for a few years and with more big costs to come.
- Finances. With 6 deficits in a row and with a minimum of 2 more in the KRudd government forward estimates it is the longest continuous run of deficits in Australian Federal Government history. Even going through the Great Depression, the Tech crash, Asian financial crisis, two world wars, funding the Vietnam war, the Korea war, the credit crunch of the early 60′s, post WW II recession and even Labor treasurer Paul Keating’s run of 6 consecutive deficits has any government had 8 deficits in a row. In fact even over two different governments there has not been 8 deficits in a row. Yet KRudd and every Labor member and senator, seeking re-election have tried to convince the Australian public that 1, it is not their fault ever, and two, we are really great financial managers. I can show 250billion (the government debt) reasons why they are not.
