Issa subpoenas Sebelius for documents - CBS News

The Republican head of the House Oversight Committee on Thursday announced he's subpoenaed Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius for the information regarding the botched launch that she's so far declined to hand over voluntarily.

Specifically, committee chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., has called on HHS to hand over documents on the number of people who attempted to enroll in an insurance plan through and the number who did so successfully, as well as a full documentation of the efforts to test the site.

Issa and Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., initially asked for the information on Oct. 10 and again on Oct. 24.

"The Administration's failure to provide answers about what led to the disastrous launch of and what is being done to fix it is completely unacceptable," Issa said in a statement. "The evidence is mounting that the website did not go through proper testing, including critical security testing, and that the Administration ignored repeated warnings from contractors about ongoing problems."
